Once the plaster has set on the front of the mould, the clay wall is removed. As the Chavant is oil based you can use water to dilute the water based clay that formed the wall to remove it. A paint brush can be used to remove the clay without disturbing the Chavant sculpture.
A layer of vaseline is added so that the two halves of the mould will not stick together.
The same process is repeated to create the second half of the mould. Here's the front of the finished mould.
And here's the back. It was easy to clean out the clay as Chavant does not stick to the plaster.
